DUEL
DUEL by Lawrence Shave (A 100 word Drabble)
Kurt stepped forward intently, a rigid silhouette against the desert sun. Perspiration steamed his brow, the salt stinging his eyes. “Quick or Dead”, he told himself, masking the fear he felt inside. 7, 8. This was it. Grab the Colt .45, spin, then duck all in one fluid motion. 10.
The cowboy whipped around, ducked, and fired. He watched as the opposing duellist dropped into the dust. Once again, Kurt had survived the draw. But as the smoke cleared, he knew it would only be a matter of time before a quicker gun would send him to meet his maker.
