Oh! To Be In Exmoor!

Oh To Be In Exmoor

Oh! To be in Exmoor. To venture far and wide
To drive through winding little lanes,
And explore the countryside.
To window shop and people watch
To hunt on a fossil beach.
The visit to Lymington was such fun,
But Lynton was just out of reach.

Oh! To be in Exmoor. To play in the River Lyn.
To walk the gorge and rugged rocks
Miss it would be such a sin.
To hear the sheep and the ducks at play
To drive to hidden gems
A day well spent in Woolacombe
Meeting up with some old friends.

Oh! To be in Exmoor. To walk the Tarka Trail.
To see the fields of rambling views,
And the seas of heather and Dale.
To fish the Barle and tread the moors
To explore the ‘Lorna Doone’.
Our stay in Withypool was the best,
Such a shame it ends too soon!

Many holidays spent in Exmoor. Beautiful place I have such fond memories. Swimming in the River Barle, Fishing, listening to the sheep in the fields at night with glass of wine in hand. Happy Days! This particular poem isn't quite finished yet but will give you an idea of work in progress. The last verse is what I started with.

“Intensity is strong,

overwhelming at times

but I am stronger.”

"Two lovers kissed on that lonely lane.

But cupids arrow missed, their love will never be the same."
