THE VIEW - Fifty Shades Of Green

Location

Ventnor, Isle of Wight

The View - Fifty shades of green

If I look out my window, what delights can I see?
What colours, sights and senses are calling out to me?
Everywhere I look, there are fifty shades of green.
Except the view of the ocean flowing in between.
The majestic Holly tree, peppered with its scarlet berries,
And along the horizon, are the tankers and the ferries.
The undulating landscape, to walk on is a treat.
You can feel the comfort of the grass, as it cushions beneath your feet.
Silvery shimmers in the water, as the breakers flow towards the shore.
Above, a seagull and Buzzard fly. See how high they soar!
A pigeon breaks the silence, and diverts me from my gaze.
This view of ours so splendid. Oh! These heady – lazy days.
The salty air blows westward, to the Needles and Alum Bay.
The breathlessness of this island, just carries me away.
Red Valarian hugs the clifftop amongst the thistle and the grass.
My view from here, astounding. The panoramic views are vast.
The cobweb dangles in the sunlight. The Cottage-Whites dance from leaf to tree.
The seagulls squawk for their supper and the magpies cackle with glee.
The benches atop the hill, where you can sit, relax and chill.
This snapshot, just a moment. Time just stands so still.
This ‘Sanctuary of Tranquility’ is truly a fantastic scene.
Something to cling onto, like pictures in a dream.
But there is one thing I will take from here, it’s the badger I’ve just seen!
And the colours from my window, the fifty shades of green.

I wrote this poem whilst holidaying on the Isle of Wight. The photo is the view we had and the poem reflects everything I could see from our home. I wrote this poem for our friend who kindly offered us her home to stay in. One of my favourite places in the world.

“Intensity is strong,

overwhelming at times

but I am stronger.”

"Two lovers kissed on that lonely lane.

But cupids arrow missed, their love will never be the same."
