Wight Memories
Oh Ventnor. How I’ve missed you so.
Like kisses miss their mistletoe.
As sunset dips, there is no glow.
No moon tonight. No starlight show.
Bonchurch, next door. I’ve missed her too.
Where songbirds sing, and dovecotes coo!
And misty mornings, drip with dew.
The sunlight beckons, to start anew.
Longed for walks, up Tennyson Down.
And see the “thatches” in Old Shanklin Town.
Hiking and treading, around Culver Down.
It softens the senses- removes the frown.
Picture card cottages, out Godshill way.
Forage through shops. Time passes away.
Trinkets and fashion. Gifts from our stay.
Then cool off with a beer at Freshwater Bay.
White cliffs at Needles. A sight to behold.
Stories of pirates and shipwrecks are told.
Buccaneers and bandits, all hiding their gold.
Immortal legends and heroes unfold.
Oh how I love the Isle of Wight.
Where Red squirrels roam and Brent Geese take flight.
During the day and even at night.
Each place a wonder and glorious sight.

Another poem I wrote whilst on holiday in The Isle of Wight. Written for Barbara who allows us to enjoy her holiday home in Ventnor. Our second home, such a tranquil and relaxing place.
